How To Throw Through The Point

Throwing through the point is an essential aspect to maximizing your throws distance, if you miss the point, you could lose meters on your throw.
Lets start by defining what throwing through the point is:
Throwing through the point is when your hand path travels in a direct line through the front of the javelin.
Missing the point would be if you pulling down on the handle, lost the tip up, and through through the handle, or missed the javelin out to the side, or pulled across your body
Pulling down on the handle would cause the tip to come down prematurely before the javelin would be ready to come down.
Through through handle would mean the javelin would fly flat against the wind because the tip would be up, and off your head, then your hand would still follow the handle.
The javelin is an aerodynamic implement and you want it to travel at the path of least wind resistance as much as possible. So by throwing through the point you will maximize the RPMs or rotation on the javelin and cut through the wind, at the optimal release angle traveling the maximal distance every rep you take.

Take a look at one of my athletes, Jordan Davis improvement that was made in one year, and how big of a different throwing through the point can make.
Jordans average throw was about 68-71m his Junior year when he struggled to throw through the point
The next year every meet was above 75m and topped out at 84m
